Our 2018 resident, Ryoko Sekiguchi, will be working on inter-cultural relations and cooking
Japanese author and translator living in Paris, RyokoSekiguchimanages to crossseveral disciplines and territories with the principle of “dual writing”. She writes both in French and Japanese, translates both ways, works in literature as well as gastronomy, and on several collaborative projects.Ce n’est pas un hasard (It’s not a coincidence) was written in 2011 in the aftermath of the tsunami and Fukushima disaster; it questions the ambivalent feelings experienced at the time. From 2013, Ryoko pursues research in writing and gastronomy and publishes Le Club des gourmets in 2013 in which she invites famous authors to recall culinary memories, while DînerFantasma was written in collaboration with Felipe Ribon in 2016, it relates a series of dinners that were organised for departed souls. After Caravanserail menu (2016), which was presented at Aichi Triennale, RyokoSekiguchi has kept on researching these different languages through the project Lorsquel’humidité change, le monde change (When the humidity changes, the world changes) presented at Centre Pompidou-Metz.
